The name was “dotty chair,” but Gay changed it partly as a nod to friend and artist Dottie Miles and partly because it was funny to her.

There's another dotty overstuffed chair in an earlier piece, cat on top, that didn't make it into the the show. Gay didn't have any dotty ones herself.
